Each year, LANNA students organize and participate in two Model United Nations (MUN) conferences in Northern Thailand. LANNA was one of the founding members of the Chiang Mai Model United Nations organization fifteen years ago, and CMMUN conferences attract international schools from Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Bangkok and neighboring countries. Select students also annually attend The Hague ºÚÁϲ»´òìÈ Model United Nations (THIMUN) in Singapore. All Key Stage 3 students at LANNA participate in the annual intramural MUN conference organized by our debating society.
In MUN, student delegates assume diplomatic roles in United Nations bodies such as the Security Council, Human Rights Council, World Health Organization, Economic and Social Council, General Assembly, and Secretariat. Utilizing their research, negotiation, public speaking, and academic writing skills, student delegates collaborate in solving problems facing the international community. All aspects of an MUN conference are student-led. LANNA students acquire and hone key skills with the goal of taking up important roles such as Secretary-General, Parliamentarians, and Committee Chairs.
