In the vibrant and evolving field of Early Years education, fostering a love for learning is at the heart of everything we do at LANNA. As educators, our mission is not only to teach children but to inspire them to become life-long learners, a concept often discussed in educational circles. But what does this really mean in practice?
One of our exceptional teachers is Ms. Allison, whose background and extensive experience make her a valuable part of our community. With 12 years of teaching experience, including five years at LANNA, Ms. Allison is passionate about inspiring her young learners to become life-long students, a philosophy at the core of our Early Years programme.
Ms. Allison, who holds a BA in Elementary Education with a minor in Literacy from Central Washington University, is well-versed in early literacy and hands-on teaching approaches. Her expertise is further strengthened by her Washington State Teaching Certification (K-8) and her Reading Specialist credentials. Trained in both PYP and IEYC, she brings a holistic and creative perspective to the classroom.
LANNA’s Early Years curriculum, which uses the National Curriculum of England and is influenced by the Reggio Emilia approach, is all about respecting the individuality of each child and using their natural curiosity as a springboard for deeper learning. Ms. Allison’s teaching philosophy aligns perfectly with this. “I believe in creating a nurturing environment where each child can thrive and grow,” she shares. Her focus on curiosity, creativity, and exploration allows students to take ownership of their learning, both in the classroom and beyond.
Through meaningful connections and hands-on activities, Ms. Allison encourages her students to see the relevance of what they are learning. By fostering their natural curiosity, she helps shape confident, inquisitive learners who will carry these skills with them throughout their lives.
Her international teaching experience, having worked in schools across Bangkok, China, and Macau, adds a unique cultural understanding to her teaching style, reflecting LANNA’s commitment to diversity and global-mindedness.
Ms. Allison is an outstanding example of the quality and dedication found in our Early Years educators. Her passion for nurturing life-long learners helps make LANNA a place where children’s dreams take flight, setting the foundation for success both in and out of the classroom.
