Another year, and another successful group of wonderful young people have graduated! With almost 50 university offers this year, LANNA鈥檚 Class of 2021 has shown yet again how ambitions and aspirations can become reality. From our graduating class of 22 students there are an impressive nine offers from within the elite top 100 universities in the world, according to the QS World University Rankings!

What does LANNA do to help our students gain great university places?
Guidance at IGCSE and A level
From Year 9 LANNA Parents and students begin talking with our teachers about the IGCSE and AS/A levels courses that we offer for study in Years 10 to 13. Before making choices in which courses they will take, they can discuss the different syllabi, assessment methods, course content, what they will learn, and any other questions or concerns they may have. Parents and students also meet and talk to Dr Sadie, our Head of Sixth Form, about how their university and career plans fit into these courses.
A lot of work goes into these achievements, from both the students and their teachers. Besides hard work and studying, our students in the Sixth Form (Y12 and Y13) receive regular university counselling. Students meet in small tutorial groups to research college and university options as well as large year groups for formal presentations. There is also a busy programme of guest speakers, university presentations and workshop seminars. Students are also regularly taken to local Education Fairs and presentations.

These classes are also used for students to research university options using the Unifrog platform to which the school subscribes. This is a very helpful platform that lets students explore their interests, and find and apply to suitable universities. Dr Sadie also gives individualised support and guidance to talk through what options might suit students best based on where in the world they are looking, what they want to get out of the university experience, learning preferences, subject(s) interested in, budgeting, etc. She also gives individualised support in the organisation and planning of writing and revising application documents and essays to fit in with deadlines. Our students work very hard to get consistently good academic results and know the goal that they are working towards from early on in Y12, or before!
Our Sixth Form also operates a tutoring system which allows students to meet a dedicated tutor in small groups of two to three once a week. In these tutoring sessions, the tutors are able to check on how the students are coping with their studies and discuss any concerns or issues they may be having with their AS/A levels – catching any issues early and providing appropriate support is the key aim of the system.
